MIPIM 2016: The new West Midlands Combined Authority is to create an investment fund to unlock difficult development sites.
Speaking on the Greater Birmingham stand, chair of the WMCA and leader of Solihull council, Bob Sleigh, outlined some of the ways that money would be spent, where the opportunities might be and how the WMCA would work with the new mayor when they are elected next year.
He said: “[The WMCA] From a developers perspective it is actually being able to unlock some of those sites that have been difficult to unlock over the years.
“We will create an investment fund in the West Midlands than can look at remediating some of that land for instance that’s not been able to be developed.”
