HM Revenue & Customs has issued the highest number of winding-up petitions since before the pandemic.
Directors were presented with 348 winding-up petitions in July as authorities signed off the highest number of court orders in any single month since 2019, according to data from Kroll, a restructuring specialist.
The number of time-to-pay agreements negotiated with struggling companies – where payments can be made in instalments – also rose by 20% in the first quarter compared with the final three months of 2022.
