De Montalt Life Sciences has revealed plans to build a science and technology park on the 29-acre former Wicklesham Quarry site in Faringdon, Oxfordshire.
The developer is seeking a screening opinion from the Vale of White Horse District Council for the delivery of up to 455,000 sq ft of commercial space spanning seven buildings.
The scheme, designed by architect Kendall Kingscott, includes offices, research and development hubs, industrial, storage and distribution facilities, and a data centre.
In addition, De Montalt is set to deliver a car park, access roads, landscaping, ecological buffer zones, amenity spaces and planting areas.
The site is in an area identified as having special scientific interest, described by Natural England as “one of Britain’s richest palaeontological localities”. There were previously some attempts made by other developers, including Grundon, to turn the site into business park, but the plans had faced strong opposition from the local community.
De Montalt has acknowledged the value of the site in its development proposals, noting that the quarry walls will be retained and protected.
