Whodunnit at Villa Park?

It was an evening of murder, mystery and suspense at last week’s Midlands Property Quiz at Aston Villa Football Club.

Around 500 of property’s finest minds came together to raise money for charity and to work out who had “killed” GBR Phoenix Beard consultant and former quiz compere John “Griff” Griffiths.

Guests had to choose from one of the six murder suspects: BNP Paribas Real Estate’s Simon Robinson, Edge Property’s Neil Edginton, lawyer Mark Dakeyne, Nurton Development’s Rupert Young, Nicola Fleet-Milne and Estates Gazette’s Midlands editor Lisa Pilkington; plus one of the six weapons and six locations.

After a number of clues, Nurton bad boy Rupert Young was arrested for killing Griffiths in the library with his mobile phone. As he was led away he shouted: “He deserved it!”

Away from the villainy, the quiz covered categories including sport, film, music and general knowledge. This year’s winner was Faithful & Gould, followed by Capital Law, and Brown Jacobson in third place. DLA Piper took home the wooden spoon.

An impressive £28,000 was raised on the night, pushing the total raised for charity since the quiz began to more than £300,000. Set to benefit once again are Birmingham Children’s Hospital and the Lionheart charity.
