WeWork will open at least 10 new sites in the capital by the end of 2017, with the first two sites confirmed at Aldwych House, WC2, and London Fields, E8.

The announcement coincided with a visit from London mayor Sadiq Khan and his delegation of entrepreneurs to WeWork’s New York headquarters.

WeWork Aldwych House will open at GI Partners and Rowan Strategic Asset Management’s 71-91 Aldwych, WC2. The 169,677 sq ft redeveloped office building will accommodate 1,500 members.

The refurbished space includes a roof terrace with views overlooking the River Thames and the City.

WeWork London Fields will open at Hackney Council’s Keltan House at 115 Mare Street, E8. The 39,234 sq ft building will accommodate 800+ members.

WeWork also plans to triple the space at Prudential’s 3 Waterhouse Square, EC1. The three new spaces are all due to open in the first half of 2017, bringing 4,400 new members to London.

Khan used the visit to talk about investment in London and his new #londonisopen campaign.

He said: “Our great city has long been at the very forefront of financial services. When you combine that with our new-found technological expertise, it creates an unrivalled opportunity for companies looking to break into the European market.

“Despite the country’s decision to leave the European Union, there is no doubt that London will continue to be the booming and successful city it is today, open to talent and creativity from across the world and a leading destination for American business.”
