WeWork posts record month for London bookings

WeWork’s UK business posted a record-breaking month in November, despite the upheaval of kicking off its bankruptcy protection process in the US during those same weeks.

The co-working company said monthly-membership “All Access” and ad hoc “On Demand” bookings in London stood at record highs during November, with the latter up by a third year-on-year. Locations in the City and Soho showed particular jumps, WeWork said.

The company’s 2023 review revealed that its 10 York Road site, close to Waterloo Station, was its busiest building globally during the year. In the UK, that was followed by 30 Churchill Place in Canary Wharf and Merchant Square in Paddington.

In North America, the company’s most-booked offices were all in midtown Manhattan: 12 E 49th Street, 500 7th Avenue and 1460 Broadway.

Ben Samuels, chief revenue officer, said: “Workers are not only enjoying newfound flexibility but are leveraging the convenience of being able to ‘drop in’ to well-designed workspace on the go, as it suits them. With this in mind, it’s no surprise that 10 York Road is our most visited WeWork globally – this vibrant flagship location is conveniently located next to Waterloo station and has been expertly designed to create a ‘destination workspace that is worth the commute in.”
