WeWork has hired a new accountancy firm, five months after EY quit the role.
The co-working company said in a filing to the US Securities & Exchange Commission that it has chosen Grant Thornton as auditor.
The firm has been without an auditor since November, when EY quit in the wake of WeWork entering Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the US and Canada.
If the hire is approved by the bankruptcy court, Grant Thornton will now review WeWork’s accounts for 2023 and this year.
Last month, WeWork said it has delayed the publication of its annual report due to the lack of an auditor, saying it would be unable to produce an annual 10-K report on time “without unreasonable effort or expense”.
The company aims to complete a restructuring and exit Chapter 11 protection by the end of May.
