Britain can finally boast that it has the largest shopping centre in Europe after a £600m extension opened at Westfield London.
The 740,000 sq ft expansion at the shopping centre in White City, west London, will increase the overall size of the scheme to 2.6m sq ft, helping it to overtake Aviapark in Moscow and the Westgate shopping city in Zagreb, Croatia.
The new extension is launching six months ahead of schedule with shops opening on a phased basis in the coming months.
John Lewis, the department store operator, is the anchor tenant of the extension and its four-level shop at Westfield London will be its 50th full-line outlet, featuring a host of services and experiences from hair styling to personal shopping.
