MIPIM UK 2016: A north Warwickshire town centre with just eight residents on the electoral register has been earmarked by central government for a major regeneration opportunity, with an identified need of 10,000 new homes in the next 10-15 years.
Supported by the Department for Communities and Local Government and UKTI, Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council has launched a plan to secure private investment and development partners. Carter Jonas has been instructed to advise on the release of four publicly owned sites in Nuneaton town centre totalling 20.6 acres. A procurement process is being worked up for the four sites, which total 20.6 acres, and could be marketed either individually or as a portfolio.
Identified uses include residential, hotel, leisure and offices. Average house prices are £170,428 and 450,000 people live within a 20-minute travel distance. Around 25% of the town centre is in public ownership. It is 60 minutes from London and 30 minutes from Birmingham and Leicester.
