Wakefield’s Konect62 fills up as second tenant signs for space

Rental, leasing and equipment services provider TIP Group will be moving to Konect62, an industrial scheme that sits on the site of former coal mine near Wakefield, West Yorkshire.

The firm has signed a 10-year lease for a 2.5-acre open storage plot, which is expected to help it to expand its operations in the town of Knottingley. TIP will use the space to grow its rental and sales stock of trailers that are available to transport operators and logistics providers in the surrounding area and beyond.

The first phase of Konect62 has been speculatively developed by joint venture partners Henderson Park and Cole Waterhouse, and brought forward by McLaren Construction, to provide 375,000 sq ft of prime logistics and warehouse facilities, with an additional 30-acre land offering build-to-suit options, including Big K, a 735,000 sq ft unit which has detailed planning permission.

The jv also has lodged a planning application for £250m phase two of the development, which would create a further 802,000 sq ft of logistics and manufacturing space across multiple buildings ranging in size from 4,000 sq ft to 375,000 sq ft.

Robert Titterton, development manager for industrial and logistics at Cole Waterhouse, said: “Our site enables TIP to provide the service to their clients at a location that is accessible from the motorway at both junctions 33 and 34 of the M62.”

Earlier this month supply chain and logistics firm Oakland International took a 161,860 sq ft facility at Konect62.

DTRE, Sixteen Real Estate and Savills are joint letting agents for Konect62.
