LISTEN Covid led many to rethink their careers, leading to people following through on aspirations to open shops. This has helped the retail sector bounce back with a vengeance post-lockdown, but it now braces itself for a bruising winter, according to Creative Retail director Scott Robertson.
Creative Retail, which is Birmingham-based but has an increasingly national presence, sits in fifth place on the 2022 Radius On-Demand Rankings for retail disposals for the whole of the UK. It has let or sold 164,829 sq ft so far this year.
Robertson says the sector faces a period of unprecedented economic turbulence – and predicts more casualties to come. However, with the right support from both national and local government, he believes bricks-and-mortar retail has a bright future.
