Vistry is the only major housebuilder to have boosted both its revenue and output during the pandemic.
According to research from Warwick Estates, Vistry Group built 6,131 homes in 2020, 59% more than the previous year, while revenues rose 79% to just over £2bn.
While Persimmon delivered the most homes in total, at 13,575, this was 14% fewer than the previous year. Barratt’s delivered 12,604, 29% fewer than 2019, and Bellway dropped 9% to 11,921 homes. Taylor Wimpey suffered the biggest decline in the number of homes built during the pandemic. The 9,799 built in 2020 marked a 39% fall from 2019.
And while Vistry saw a 79% boost in revenues, all others suffered falls, with Redrow hit hardest by a 37% decline.
