The Brunswick hotel in Edinburgh has been sold by Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish and his business partner.
Advised by Knight Frank, the building was sold for more than the asking price of £795,000 to John Gilmore and Jennifer Thorpe.
The Brunswick hotel is a 19th century William Playfair terraced townhouse at 7 Brunswick Street, to the east of Edinburgh’s New Town.
Playfair has designed some of Edinburgh’s most iconic buildings, including the National Galleries of Scotland and Royal Scottish Academy.
Gilmore and Thorpe plan to convert the building back to its former use as a townhouse. The property is run as a guest house with 10 rooms.
