With the first phase of homes now completed and construction set to start on the next 600 before the end of the year, Lend Lease’s regeneration of the Heygate Estate in Elephant & Castle, SE1, is well under way.
The redevelopment of the central London site has been a long process – with construction only starting two years ago despite its acquisition in 2005.
Estates Gazette was given a tour of the development by Rob Heasman, project director at Lend Lease, who explained what the thinking was behind the 3,000-home regeneration project.
