UK house prices fall by £5,000 on average, with south sliding fastest

The prices of homes put up for sale this month typically are more than £5,000 lower than they were in October as a cooling in parts of the market and uncertainty over Brexit lead sellers to lower their aspirations, according to a survey by Rightmove.

Asking prices for homes have fallen by an average of 1.7% to £302,023 this month, the property website’s latest house price index shows. The discount represents the largest monthly drop in November since 2012.

Rightmove said that new sellers were pricing properties more realistically in an attempt to minimise pre-Christmas “buyer humbug” syndrome.
