U+I has revealed fresh images (see below) of its major mixed-use scheme on Greenwich Peninsula, SE10, that will deliver more than six acres of public realm and a landscaped park along 275m of the River Thames.
Designed by Dutch architecture firm OMA (Office for Metropolitan Architecture), the £770m Morden Wharf will provide around 1,500 homes, of which 35% will be affordable, across 12 buildings. Several of the residential buildings will feature vertical green façades that will help to provide natural screening and improve air quality.
U+I’s proposals will also deliver a mix of commercial and employment uses, including retail and community uses and smaller flexible spaces for SMEs and creative businesses.
An existing warehouse on the site of an old pub, The Sea Witch, which was destroyed by a bomb during the Second World War, will be retained to accommodate a new pub together with a mix of refurbished workspace for creative businesses. Other features of the scheme include a potential children’s nursery and other community space.
U+I acquired the site in 2012 and submitted plans to the Royal Borough of Greenwich in June 2020.
