Online train ticket seller Trainline is wrapping up a deal for a new, larger office in Midtown ahead of a lease break in 2026 at its current home in Holborn.
The company is under offer to take the second, third and fourth floors at Ivanhoé Cambridge and Co-Re’s Stonecutter Court at 1 Stonecutter Street, EC4, totalling around 61,500 sq ft.
The company would join law firm Travers Smith, which agreed a lease for roughly 156,500 sq ft in the building in 2021.
The news follows earlier reporting by EG which revealed the company had appointed CBRE to lead the search for a new office.
The rent price is understood to be in the low £80s, which is above the average achieved rent of £69.17 per sq ft for offices in the Midtown submarket, according to EG Radius data.
The price and size of the space are also a mark-up on the company’s current space at 120 Holborn, EC1, in Holborn, owned by Singaporean developer UOL Group, where EG Radius data shows Trainline pays £57.50 per sq ft for roughly 55,000 sq ft space.
Its decision to look for a bigger space is understood to have been in anticipation of continued growth, following a 60% expansion of the company’s headcount over the past four years to reach around 1,000 employees.
BH2 and Knight Frank are advising the landlord on the deal, while CBRE is advising Trainline.
