TfL teams up with A2Dominion on 100% affordable Hounslow resi

Transport for London has agreed a partnership with A2Dominion to develop 400 affordable homes at Hounslow West.

The homes will be a combination of shared-ownership and London affordable rent across four buildings.

The development is part of TfL’s strategy to redevelop car parks next to Tube stations to deliver affordable housing for the capital and finance station upgrades.

Architect HKR has worked up plans for the scheme on a 3.7-acre car park next to Hounslow West Underground station.

Proposals include a new public square and gardens for the community, with 15,000 sq ft of retail, with plans to shrink the car park from 420 spaces to about 100.

The development will finance upgrades at Hounslow West with a new station concourse. The Grade II listed ticket hall will be retained at the centre of the scheme.

Danny Lynch, director of land and development at A2Dominion, said: “Hounslow is a very important borough for us, having provided homes in the area for over 70 years we have developed a very strong relationship with the council. Through schemes like this, we expect that relationship to strengthen further in the future.”

TfL’s housing programme aims to deliver 10,000 homes across the capital. It has started work on more than 1,300 homes and said it is on track to start on the full 10,000 by 2021, with around 6,000 of those in west London.
