TfL partners with Pocket Living on 100% affordable deal

Transport for London is to work with Pocket Living to build 125 affordable flats on various sites across London.

The one-bedroom flats will be prioritised for first-time buyers and people living or working in the same borough.

Pocket Living builds affordable housing without public subsidies, sold outright to buyers at local market discounts of at least 20%.

Any homes that are later sold on will also need to meet the buyer criteria, and require people to have a household income of less than the affordable housing threshold.

TfL director of commercial development Graeme Craig said: “Pocket Living is building a great reputation for high quality, genuinely affordable housing for first-time buyers, and will help us develop sites that would not otherwise come forward.

“This partnership marks another important step in us assembling the most important development pipeline in London – building thousands of social rented and other genuinely affordable homes across the capital and generating hundreds of millions of pounds to reinvest in the transport network.”

Pocket Living chief executive Marc Vlessing said: “Pocket has always been at the heart of innovative collaborations in the housing sector and we believe new thinking and working in partnership is crucial if we are serious about tackling the housing crisis.”

The sites have been added to Pocket’s portfolio and are currently subject to planning consent.
