Teesside University picks Here East for London campus

Teesside University has chosen Here East in the Olympic Park, E20, for its new London outpost.

The North East university will take 26,000 sq ft, joining Staffordshire University in establishing a base at the tech and innovation campus.

Teesside University London will offer courses including business, computer games and animation, and computer science, with the London campus providing a gateway for students to access opportunities in the UK’s capital.

Here East chief executive Gavin Poole said: “Here East has a track record of bringing together the brightest and most exciting businesses and academia from across the UK – and Teesside University making our campus its home is another example of this in action.

The 1.2m sq ft campus, owned by clients of Delancey, hosts 37 organisations including Here East’s innovation and consulting centre Plexal, Fiit.tv, Sports Interactive, Esports Engine, Electronic Arts, Ford Smart Mobility, Studio Wayne McGregor, Matchesfashion and the Trampery on the Gantry, which provides 21 studios for local artists and designers.

Laura Citron, chief executive at London & Partners, said: “The investment from Teesside University into the Here East innovation campus offers further proof that London is a world-class centre for both students and academic institutions. Our city’s high concentration of top universities and graduates provides companies with access to the creative and highly skilled talent they need to scale. Here East is a great example of how London brings together the best businesses, entrepreneurs, and researchers to support innovation and growth.”
