Taylor Wimpey cheers “resilient” sales rate

Taylor Wimpey said a “resilient” sales rate has allowed it to reiterate its full-year guidance, including a completion range of 10,400-10,800 and a profit of £444m.

In the housebuilder’s trading update for the year-to-date, it said the team expects the UK average selling price to be in the region of £330, 000 during the first half of the year, rising to £340,000 for the full year.

Chief executive Jennie Daly said: “The spring selling season has progressed in line with expectations, with good levels of customer demand reflected in our sales rate… Notwithstanding the wider macroeconomic backdrop, affordability is improving with lenders remaining committed to the housing market, albeit first time buyers continue to experience some challenges.

“Planning reforms are positive, but these do require increased resources and a focus on the implementation phase to drive outcomes and deliver much-needed new homes across the country.”
