Tales of the Unexpected: Covid’s lessons for tech, climate, cities and talent

LISTEN This year has been unexpected. None of us saw a pandemic like this coming. None of us expected to see the streets of our biggest cities empty, to see wildlife reclaiming metropolises. None of us expected to be wearing quite so much leisurewear to work and none of us expected to be frantically curating our bookshelves so we made the right impression on Zoom or Teams meetings.

But the year has all but passed, and if there is one thing we can all take from 2020 it is education. We have all been educated in so many different things. We’ve learnt about technologies, we’ve learnt about each other, and we’ve learnt about what matters to us and the vital role that our places, spaces and people have in delivering on those things.

To discuss these themes and much more, EG sat down with experts from across the built environment to talk about the lessons that living through a pandemic has taught the sector about tech, ESG, cities and talent.

Episode 1: What an unprecedented year has taught us about data and digitisation

Episode 2: Why ESG has moved up, not down, the corporate agenda

Episode 3: The year when our cities turned to ghost towns

Episode 4: How distance brought us closer together
