Sunderland City Council has appointed Avison Young to find a development partner for its Sheepfolds scheme.
The move comes shortly after the proposals for the 24-acre site were revealed in July.
They include 600 homes, school, community facilities, public realm and a pedestrian bridge connecting Sheepfolds to the south of the river. The development will be brought forward in phases, with the first phase expected to deliver 160 homes and a mobility hub.
The development will form the next phase of 94-acre Riverside Sunderland project.
Mark McKelvey, director at Avison Young, said: “Sunderland City Council and Avison Young are working to secure a developer that can deliver the council’s aspirations and add to the substantial progress that has already been made in regenerating Sunderland city centre.”
