Sir Vince Cable, the former business secretary, urged companies to stop counting Help to Buy homes when calculating the pay rewards of their bosses. Several builders have “relied heavily” on the government scheme to boost profits, he said, expressing “serious concerns” over the rewards.
Sir Vince, the Liberal Democrat leader, said that bonuses “could still be generous by corporate standards,” but a cap was needed to revive the sector’s reputation.
