St Modwen is set to be granted planning consent for £191m in proposals for new homes and workspace at the former MG factory site in Longbridge.
The developer has applied for outline planning permission to redevelop the site’s international headquarters, roundhouse, conference centre and car assembly building into roughly 160,000 sq ft of employment space and 695 new homes.
Planning officials at Birmingham City Council have been recommended to approve the scheme at next week’s planning meeting.
In planning documents lodged last year, St Modwen said the scheme represented “a once in a generation opportunity to deliver a flagship mixed-use development for Longbridge” with an aim across the entire masterplan for 1,000 new jobs and 1,000 homes.
The site is now largely vacant, with MG retaining usage of only part of the land.
