St Modwen Property has bought 600 acres (242.82ha) of land at Corus's Llanwern steelworks in Newport, south Wales, for £17m-£17.5m.
St Modwen will invest £200m in redeveloping the site over 10 years as a housing, commercial and leisure centre.
