St Modwen has gained consent for five warehouses as part of its redevelopment of the 1,250-acre former Thurleigh Airfield in Bedfordshire.
The units at Thurleigh Airfield Business Park total 20,000 sq ft, and range from 1,500 sq ft to 5,000 sq ft.
Construction is scheduled to begin in January
St Modwen has already received planning consent for industrial units and offices on a larger 40-acre part of the 1,250-acre airfield near Bedford, which it acquired from the Ministry of Defence in 1996.
Vehicles logistics company Paragon Automotive has already signed for 150,000 sq ft of hanger space plus 96 acres of open storage on the site.
Peter Rudd of St Modwen, said: “The units should be ready for occupation early next summer.
“Because of the shortage of new accommodation of this size and type in the area, we anticipate concluding deals prior to completion.”
Bidwells is acting for St Modwen.
St Modwen and French construction company Vinci was separately chosen by the MoD for the £200m Project MoDEL development partnership in March of last year, which focuses on more than 250-acres of former RAF land.
