IT infrastructure provider Softcat has launched its sixth UK office in Glasgow city centre.
The company has taken a five-year lease on a 5,086 sq ft office at 8 Nelson Mandela Place.
The firm, which has its headquarters in Marlow, plans to increase the number of its Glasgow employees from 14 to 30 by the end of the year.
Sales director Jamie Burke said the Scottish city was an attractive location because of the talent available from nearby universities and workers looking for new opportunities.
He said: “This move to Scotland has been on the cards for some time with an aim to develop our relationship with existing and new clients based in Scotland.
“We have more than 500 long-standing clients in Scotland already, but like all customers, they like to deal with local people, so it important for us to have a presence in Scotland staffed largely by ‘home-grown’ employees.”
Some 4,639 sq ft remains vacant at 8 Nelson Mandela Place, which can be dated back to the 1800s and was once home to the Glasgow Athenaeum School of Music.
A new office building was constructed behind the original façade in 1990.
Letting agent Fergus Maclennan at Cushman & Wakefield represented the landlord, German real estate fund Patrizia Immobilien.
