Social: painting a picture of Salford

Painting-a-pictures-of-Salford-A schoolgirl in Salford has coloured her way to the top of the class and won a local art competition conducted by Knight Knox and Fortis Developments.

Children from primary schools in Salford, Greater Manchester, were asked to create a piece of artwork titled What Salford means to me.

The winning artist was Nicole Blecharz, aged nine, from St Thomas of Canterbury RC School. Her winning artwork will be made into a mural and will be installed in the lobby area of Adelphi Wharf Fortis Developments’ flagship residential scheme in Salford. 

She also won £50 of art materials and a £500 crafts bundle for her school.


Scotland-Air-Ambulance-charitySky-high donation

Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance is flying high after receiving a £4,000 donation from Bell Ingram, as part of an ongoing partnership between the land and estate agent and the charity.

The charity flies expert paramedic care to communities across Scotland and transports patients rapidly to hospital.

During its three years in operation the service has responded to more than 1,000 emergency call-outs.


Footballers team up to support youth

Football stars Mark Noble and Bobby Zamora joined a group of young Londoners and business leaders to support CBRE’s partnership with charity London Youth.

CBRE began supporting the charity’s Build-it programme in January 2015 and has used its property and business experience to help 18- to 25-year-olds from south London to gain the experience, skills and support they need to progress into construction careers.

Lorna Walker, BeyondMe co-team leader, said: “The BeyondMe platform, a scheme for professionals to assist charities, has enabled CBRE to support London Youth’s Build-it programme and make a difference.”

Cycle challenge benefits teen trust

BCO-Cycle-challenge-2016The British Council for Offices cycle challenge saw 50 cyclists set off from King’s Cross, N1, on 8 May, completing a 320-mile ride to raise funds for Teenage Cancer Trust.

The four-day challenge passed through the UK, France, Belgium and Holland, before arriving in Amsterdam on 11 May for the start of the BCO’s Annual Conference. It has so far raised more than £29,000.

Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to supporting young people aged between 13 and 24 diagnosed with cancer. Visit www.teenagecancertrust.org for more information.


Sector has the right aim

The property sector was on target at the ninth annual Willow Shoot Day at the Royal Berkshire Shooting School in aid of Willow Foundation.

Supported by Paul White, of Frogmore Property, and Greg Nicholson, former executive director of CBRE, the event raised more than £54,000 and was attended by more than 100 guests, including former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman (pictured, centre).

Property’s taste sensations

Battersea-cakeMore than £400 has been raised for Savills marketing boss, Steve Carrick’s charity, the Josh Carrick Foundation at the Savills’s bake off event on 9 May.

Employees provided around 20 homemade edible masterpieces competing to match a property theme.

Dom Carrick, and Estates Gazette’s Shekha Vyas judged the entries on appearance, adherence to theme and taste.

The winner was the Battenburgsea Power Station cake, baked by Janine Moredy, an associate in the development team.

Second was Kirtsy Mitchell’s imaginatively named offshore money creation.

Other entries included a chocolate Battersea Power Station cake, a Monopoly board of fairy cakes, Brexit half-and-half cookies and a savoury contender – the London Eye pork pie.
