Their aches and pains have hopefully subsided but they will be continuing to rally friends, family and colleagues to donate to their worthy causes.

Here are some of the runners and their charities.

  • Mills and Reeves’ Richard Hanson raised £4,445 for the Who Cares? Trust.
  • CBRE had 13 runners in the event who raised £22,000 for charities including Shelter, Mental Health Foundation and COSMIC. Among them was Richard Scantlebury, who is running 10 marathons in 10 weeks, and has so far raised £5,700 for CLIC Sargent.
  • David Thomas from Vail Williams has raised almost £2,000 for Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service. The following week he ran another 3.2 miles in honour of Captain David Seath, who collapsed and died during the race, just 3.2 miles from the finish line. Andy Young, head of residential at Aitchisons, said: “The funds raised will go directly to improving the lives of those affected by homelessness and poverty in our community.”

Hit the slopes

More than 100 property professionals attended an après ski-themed event organised by CBRE on 21 April, raising more than £600 for Property For Kids.

Through the generosity of the industry the charity has already provided a playground and a minibus for disadvantaged children.

In the spirit of the event, guests dressed up in ski gear, while a snowboarding simulator and a Jägermeister luge added to the fun.

Houses for homeless youth

LandAid is helping bring empty properties back into use for 175 homeless young people.

The charity has awarded £1.3m in grants to fund projects in cities including London, Leeds and Bristol

Canopy Housing has received an £80,000 grant to turn three empty properties in Leeds into safe, affordable housing for six young people.

A young man who was homeless before finding Canopy, said: “Life’s different now. We have got somewhere stable and we are actually doing alright, budgeting our money a bit better and our baby’s got her own room and so she is going to grow up in a nice stable environment. Everything Canopy has done for me has been fantastic.”
