Slough’s Sir Nigel Mobbs dies at 68

Slough Estates ex-chairman Sir Nigel Mobbs died on Friday morning.

The 68-year-old stepped down from his post in August after 45 years with the company after suffering from a stroke.

Interim chairman Paul Orchard-Lisle said: “After 45 years with the company and 42 on the board, Sir Nigel’s death represents the end of an era.

“It would be hard to overstate his contribution to Slough estates.”

Chief executive Ian Coull said: Sir Nigel’s drive, energy and vision have been central to making Slough Estates what it is today.”

Sir Nigel was educated at Marlborough and Oxford. He was Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire a director of Barclays bank and president of the British Property Federation between 1979 and 1981.

He leaves a wife, Pamela, one son and twin daughters.

The Slough board has asked Paul Orchard-Lisle to remain chairman “for the time being.” A long term successor is being sought.
