Sheffield enterprise zone shortlist unveiled

A shortlist of sites to become an enterprise zone in the Sheffield City Region was revealed today.

The seven locations, within the boundaries of the local enterprise partnership, range in size from 10 acres to 272 acres.

The government announced in the Budget that it would allow local enterprise partnerships to identify 21 areas in England to become enterprise zones.

They will enjoy a range of benefits, including business rate discounts, a simpler planning region and access to superfast broadband.

• Dearne M1 corridor – a series of sites totalling more than 250 acres.

• Markham Vale – a 198-acre employment site in the M1 corridor.
