A disused gasholder site in Sevenoaks, Kent, is to be redeveloped into a 136-home scheme.
Sevenoaks Town Council approved plans for the brownfield land on Cramptons Road to be transformed into a range of studios, one, two and three-bedroom homes.
The plans were filed by a partnership between site owner SGN Place, development company Common Projects and MAX Architects.
The scheme has been designed to retain the site’s industrial heritage.
SGN Place director Neil O’Cuinneagain said: “SGN Place is proud it is able to bring forward regeneration projects of this type across the country which repurpose old brownfield sites into vibrant housing-led redevelopments. This not only provides much-needed housing but also revitalises these sites and creates spaces that can be used and bring benefits to the wider community, while improving the natural environment.”
Steve Sanham, co-founder of Common Projects, said: “All over the country we have pockets of post-industrial brownfield land with great potential for housing. Our ethos is to find these uncut gems of sites and put the effort that’s deserved into giving them a new purpose.
“We’ve worked on this design in Sevenoaks for over three years, refining it to create a development that’s viable, the right density, and with contributions to the area of new gardens and better public access.”
