SEGRO and Barratt London have secured planning consent to build 1,300 homes and 230,000 sq ft of light industrial space at the former Nestlé site in Hayes, west London.
The redevelopment of the 30-acre former factory site that once produced chocolate and coffee will also include 7.4 acres of new public spaces and a public piazza named after Eugen Sandow, the German bodybuilder who built the factory in 1913.
SEGRO, which acquired the scheme in 2015, will be responsible for the industrial element. Barratt London will be responsible for delivering the homes and community space.
The developers have also agreed to create a 1.3km public trim trail, a redeveloped canal frontage and a coffee shop in the Canteen building.
There will be improvements made to the local road junctions, including the Bulls Bridge Roundabout, 2,000 cycle spaces, electric vehicle charging points and extensive landscaping.
Hillingdon council’s planning committee approved the scheme, subject to the section 106 and planning conditions being finalised.
