Castle Wharf contractor must go unpaid

The developers of the Castle Wharf project on Beeston Canal in Nottingham have succeeded in overturning a High Court ruling holding them liable for the losses suffered by a building contractor after works were delayed due to breaches of planning conditions.

BT sues for access to bridge

The Humber Bridge is at the centre of a legal dispute now under way at London’s High Court. British Telecommunications plc (BT) is suing Humber Bridge Board in a row that began back in 1994 over access to the bridge.

Maintenance and servicing is ‘construction contract’

The High Court has ruled that a contractor was entitled to refer a payment dispute with a housing association to adjudication on the basis that service and maintenance work qualified as a “construction contract” under the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996.
