Letting agents have attacked the Scottish Executive for backing proposals to license all private landlords in Scotland. According to the Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA), the private rented sector in the country could be brought to a standstill if an amendment to the Anti-social Behaviour Bill now going through the Scottish parliament – which received backing from the Scottish Executive last week – were introduced.

Plans for a massive redevelopment on the south bank of the River Clyde in Glasgow collapsed this week. Glasgow council lost patience with the efforts of an unnamed Irish developer, who was trying to pull together the varied ownerships of an 8.5-acre (3.4ha) waterfront site in the Tradeston area of the city centre.
