SDL Auctions is expanding its business in the North West after signing a deal with an estate agency.
The firm will be holding auctions at Bolton’s Macron Stadium from next month under an arrangement with Miller Metcalfe, which has 10 branches.
Other estate agents are in talks with SDL about a similar deal so they can offer auctions alongside private treaty sales.
Rory Daly, auctioneer and chief executive at SDL Auctions, said: “We feel there is an opportunity in the North West because it has fewer established auction houses. We want to create a large North West auction house.
“There is another estate agency we have our eye on,” he added.
New figures from EIG for November to January show that auctions in the region raised £9m more than at the same time last year (£70m up to £79m), with lots offered and sold also up.
SDL’s first Bolton sale is on 30 March.
