Scottish Opera files plans for new HQ and PBSA in Glasgow

Scottish Opera has filed plans with Glasgow City Council for a new headquarters and 700-bed purpose-built student accommodation scheme at New Rotterdam Wharf.

The vacant platform site, which is owned by Scottish Opera, lies to the east of its production studios on Edington Street.

The development would enable it to move from its current headquarters, which it rents, at 39 Elmbank Crescent in the Charing Cross area of Glasgow. It would also relocate from its orchestra rehearsal space at Hillington Park, Renfrewshire, which it occupies on a short-term lease.

Scottish Opera’s proposals include an orchestra rehearsal studio, education studio, practice rooms, a music library, instrument store, costume store, laundry, offices and meeting rooms, a café and conference facilities.

The 700 student beds would be split across two buildings of 13 and 20 storeys.
