Savills’ director of residential research Lucian Cook has analysed the new “carrots and sticks” for developers and local authorities in the housing white paper.
He said: “I think many would argue that it stops short of being radical but realistically, it was as much as could have been expected in the circumstances, particularly when you have this political tension between the desire to build more houses and to protect the green belt.”
