Savills IM hires from Nuveen for global chief investment officer

Savills Investment Management has appointed Michael Neal as global chief investment officer for equity investment, succeeding Andrew Allen, who departs after four years with the firm.

Effective immediately, Neal joins the company’s global executive committee and will report directly to Alex Jeffrey, chief executive of Savills IM.

Neal joins from Nuveen Real Estate, where he served for 16 years, most recently as chief investment officer of EMEA and head of fund management.

Jeffrey said: “With Michael’s extensive industry experience and impressive track record of driving business growth, he has all the credentials to strengthen our existing leadership team and leverage our equity investment platform for the benefit of clients globally.

“This appointment will continue to build our strong presence in the market at a key time in the economic cycle, and specifically within the real estate sector.”

Neal added: “This is an exciting time in the real estate industry, with clear opportunities arising for the formation and execution of strategies that can benefit from both favourable structural themes and cyclical factors.”
