The billionaire brothers and property tycoons David and Simon Reuben are locked in a legal battle with Santander over ownership of the bank’s Madrid headquarters.
The property is being sold by administrators after the firm that owned it went bust in 2015. The Reubens, whose empire includes the In & Out club in London, have offered over €3bn (£2.3bn).
The administrators declared it the highest bid last week, but Santander has filed a legal complaint alleging the offer was invalid because it did not conform to terms set out in the liquidation plan. Santander wants to buy back the lease, which ties it into expensive rent rises.
