Sandbanks nimbys appalled by ‘Magaluf monstrosity’

Millionaires living on Poole’s exclusive Sandbanks peninsula are fighting plans to build a four-storey Magaluf-style “monstrosity” on the seafront.

The apartment block and restaurant is being planned for a quieter part of the Dorset coast’s millionaires’ row, currently a boatyard owned by the Sandbanks Yacht Company.

Objectors have raised concerns that the scale of Phoenix Spencer’s development would “dwarf everything around it” – no mean feat when you look at the size of some of those Sandbanks houses – while visitors to the 150-cover restaurant would allegedly cause “catastrophic” congestion.
