A shopping centre in Scotland that was put up for auction with a starting price of £1 has been sold for only £310,000.
The sale price achieved for the Postings shopping centre in Kirkcaldy, Fife, is the equivalent cost of two average houses in Scotland and 35% less than the average house price in London.
Columbia Threadneedle Investments, the City fund manager, put the site up for auction this year with a starting price of £1, highlighting the pressure on the retail industry.
