Rural idylls fetch 80% premium

Potential homeowners are willing to pay a premium of more than 80% to buy rural homes in idyllic settings, research by Savills shows.

Detached properties in Surrey Hills, one of the most expensive green locations, cost an average £960,000, 82.4% more than the average for the county.

Detached properties in the South Downs cost an average £721,000, a premium of 57%, while in the Cotswolds the figures are £557,000 and 47%.
