Rolls allocates £45m for rebuilding East Kilbride plant

Rolls Royce has put its faith in Scotland with a decision to invest £45m in replacing its engine repair plant at East Kilbride.

It had considered alternatives to the Hillington plant, such as relocating to eastern Europe.

The aerospace company said an £8m regional selective assistance grant from the Scottish executive was pivotal to its decision to rebuild on another site within the town. It will open in April 2006. The existing plant will be shut down and sold.
