AXA IM Alts has named Battersea Power Station‘s Rob Samuel as its new UK head of development.
Samuel, who was chief development officer at the south London scheme, will start in the role immediately. Based in London, he will manage the full breadth of AXA IM Alts’s UK multi-sector development programme, reporting to global head of development, Germain Aunidas.
AXA IM said that Samuel’s appointment would be key to supporting the ongoing growth of AXA IM Alts’ market-leading development platform, which pursues both develop-to-trade and develop-to-hold strategies over the whole asset classes spectrum.
Samuel, who started as a surveyor at Knight Frank, has more than 25 years’ development experience. He spent 12 years at British Land, where he was head of office development, and also worked at Orbit Developments. He has overseen more than 5m sq ft of development,
AXA IM Alts’ Real Assets business manages a £7.8bn real estate portfolio across multiple asset classes, ranging from long-term investments through to ground-up developments, including 22 Bishopsgate, EC2. AXA IM Alts has completed over 300 development projects with a total value of €18bn (£15bn) across Europe since 2000, and has a further €8bn currently underway across nine countries.
