Resi Talks: The case for retirement housing reform

LISTEN In this episode of Resi Talks, EG’s residential editor Emma Rosser and guests dig into the growing momentum behind calls for retirement housing reform.

A year in lockdown has shone a light on housing for the elderly and most vulnerable. Just last week, 40 signatories backed an open letter to the prime minister Boris Johnson calling for support to expand housing and care provision.

This builds on various demands to central government, with the industry demanding planning changes, alongside stamp duty exemptions, targets and a framework to boost new development.

Last year, former housing minister Mark Prisk said the UK was “failing” the elderly. Here, he expands on this, in conversation with Eugene Marchese, co-founder of developer Guild Living and Will Bax, chief executive of Retirement Villages Group.
