Housing rents outside London are topping an average of £1,000 a month for the first time.
According to Rightmove, asking rents are creeping up in city centres across Britain as more parts of the economy open up.
The quarterly rental trends tracker, based on more than 470,000 properties, showed that outside London the average rental price being asked in the second quarter of this year was £1,007, up from £982 in Q1.
The trend marks a reversal of that seen during the pandemic when prices fell as tenants moved out of the cities.
