Glasgow is flexing its sports muscle this year, hosting the first 2018 European Championships, which brings together seven of Europe’s leading sports.
But its real claim to fame is its position as a major Scottish cultural hub.
The city includes the Scottish Opera, Scottish Ballet and the National Theatre of Scotland – not to mention a cathedral, art galleries and museums dotted around what is the country's largest city.
