Redrow warns of depressed London market as chairman exits

The founder of Redrow is retiring ten years after he returned to lead the housebuilder out of the financial crisis.

Steve Morgan plans to leave at the end of March and will be succeeded as executive chairman by John Tutte, Redrow’s group chief executive.

Morgan founded the business, based in Flintshire, north Wales, in 1974, when he was 21. Redrow, which he floated in 1994, has expanded to become a £2bn company, making Mr Morgan, 65, almost £1bn and one of Britain’s richest people.
